Pluto Stations Direct with a Full 'Hunter's' Moon in Aries
A closer look at Pluto stationing direct and the Aries Full Moon -- coming in super hot with the Crimean Bridge sabotage.
“The introduction is the battlefield, as soon as you step inside a cacophony of challenge. Vapid ramblings, ketamine induced manias, webbed creatures in gothic-neon robes. They preach to the sound of cosmic distortion, inducing a chthlulic reaction in their audience, who are themselves such warriors towards killing time’s foul governance. The voices never cease, the instrumentation is multi-polar and expansive, who knew there could be this many glow sticks and stolen valour bricolage.
Their bodies were mutilated parodies of the world they sought to vanquish, they wore the exquisite corpses of media torn apart and re-accumulated. A chaotic collage of Kim Kardashian’s ass parades with Prince Charles bloated fingers on stomach body of a catboy, part robotic with foil, part colored duct tape -forging a b-movie android- painted skin peaking out from between the seams. Time war is a body play, the socio-body, psycho-body, and biological bodily connections of flesh, flora, metal, and stone. And of course the rancid petroleum products, the most accomplished of the industrial demons. Adorned with their environment, Time War captures all, entire histories at every moment, every gaze, and lingering sound.”

And now we’re (finally) cooking with gas. The day after Pluto stations direct, our supercharged hunter’s Moon issues its maenad battle cry. All of cosmos vibrates on its notched bowstring today. This is an incredibly dynamic lunation to work with, especially in undertakings that seek to heal fractures in our collective through anarchic new arts, alliances, and rhizomatic underground movements. It’s the kind of Moon that spores (genuine) subcultures and fractals of resistance. A Moon that rages against the dying of the monoculture.
Venus in Libra joins this Full Moon, as Justice and the spirit of the law. She uses her sword to cut through the noise and static of these meaning-saturated times (as well as our post Mercury retrograde confusion). Jupiter is co-present with this Moon too, still blazing bright in our night sky. Even the malefics are bringing their support, with Saturn and Mars offering constructive sextiles. This is a moment of divine protection, especially if we’re willing to map the shrapnel of an ancient hurt. Our wounded healers are leading the charge into eclipse season.
In fact, this is the last Full Moon to put to productive use before we’re left to the whims of dragons (and the Jupiter in Pisces flood to come). Strike while the kairos is hot! The next couple weeks of relatively clement astrological weather will give us time to jerry-rig whatever techno-ark will carry us through eclipse season (and beyond to Pluto in Aquarius). With Venus as our North Star, this isn’t a time to go it alone, so trust the connections that bring more harmony to your life.
The Aries “blood moon” is ruled by a fugitive Mars in Gemini, slipping into the shadows of its retrograde. Our interstitial hacker weaponizes the absurdity of these times. This is a Mars that fights by being unmappable: a spanner in the works of an increasingly stultified culture. A Mars well-versed in collage, assemblage, the spirit of dada and oulipo… A Mars that absconds from the algorithmic grid, to create subversive new stories in unsurveilled spaces. A Mars of “Hypnogothik time war” indeed.
Influencing all of this, the subterranean rumbling of Pluto’s station direct, as Hades impregnates the zeitgeist with Thanatos, the will to power, and the very real possibility of mutually assured destruction. Something massive is being excavated, disinterred, repurposed. Raphael has raised the horns of the tarot’s Judgment card, as corpses are shucked from spring-loaded coffins. Everything we tried to bury, project, deflect, or rationalize away since the spring must be reckoned with. Our most unsettling desires (however hard to look at) will fuel our progress.
After what felt like the longest Mercury retrograde in recent memory, the gears and fly wheels of a primordial engine are shuddering into motion again. We must choose the coordinates of our forward motion carefully, however. Once this machine is unleashed there’s not much that can stop its forward momentum — a jagged streak through the ruins and wastes of late Capricorn. I have the feeling that everything that’s hot and molten under this Aries Moon will settle soon into molds of lasting consequence. In the next two weeks, we bend the arc of fate as much as we reasonably can before dragon-chaos takes over.
Leading up to the Full Moon, these past few days have felt eerie — strangely untethered. On its path to fullness, the Moon experienced a relatively rare Hellenistic void of course: “running through the emptiness” as the Greeks poetically describe this long stretch of Luna making no Ptolemaic aspects to the other seven traditional planets. The bombing of the Crimean Bridge ended the void of course with a bang: a symbolic blow to Russia’s increasingly shambolic war effort (and Putin’s pride) that I suspect will reverberate for a long time to come.
Plugged into Pluto stationing, and Putin’s solar return chart itself (if his birthday is to be trusted), this act of sabotage may prove to be a critical tipping point in this conflict. I felt the frisson through the timelines when I woke to the news of the sabotage on Saturday morning. The photograph of the explosion’s aftermath was also unsettlingly beautiful, with its leading lines melting into the dawn’s pink ether. It could’ve been a still from a Tarkovsky film. Very much a “glittering image”.
Saturn square Uranus is a dominant arc in the astrology of the rest of the year. We can expect shocking blows to infrastructure and supply chains to continue as this transit peaks one final time over the rest of 2022. Grounded barges in a historically low Mississippi River today are another permutation of this transit.
In any case, this photograph reminded me of the Venus piece in everything too: the sheer spectacle of war. The significance of one of Putin’s “crown jewels'' besmirched — an aesthetic affront that may well bring this conflict into terrifying new territory. Venus in Libra also speaks to the diplomatic dexterity that will be required to avoid full on nuclear exchange — a Libran superpower that feels all but lost in these days of cheap dopamine and diminished executive function.
Again, part of me thinks that MAD is too neat an ending. Pluto in Aquarius is more microplastics in breast milk and soy boys with plummeting sperm counts stripping in the metaverse for bezos-bucks.
But for now, an Aries cri-de-coeur against a culture that would compress and flatten even nuclear exchange into yet more content.
And this snarl of a track from my faves the Dismemberment Plan, which is feeling especially apt...
